Can’t get to the Library? We’ll come to you!

Who is eligible for mobile delivery?

Any Ayer resident who is unable to visit the Library in person for any reason is eligible to sign up for mobile delivery.

What kinds of materials can I get delivered?

Anything the Library loans and can reasonably transport via car. This includes - but is not limited to - books, media, monthly take-away crafts and tea, and Library of Things items.

What if I don’t have any specific items in mind?

If you are interested in getting materials from the Library but don’t have specific requests, our librarians will hand-select a variety of materials for you based upon your interests.

When does the Library make its deliveries?

We deliver twice per week: once on Tuesday afternoons and once on Friday afternoons.

What if I don’t have a library card or my card is expired?

No problem! Our librarians can make you a card over the phone but we will require identification to be presented when we make the first delivery. Renewing an expired card is simple, too. We will just ensure your account’s information is up-to-date and then you’re good to go!

LOCAL AUTHORS

The Library’s Local Author collection is designed to support the written works of Ayer residents.

The Ayer Library invites local authors to donate one copy of their recently published work for inclusion in our Local Authors collection. This collection is housed in the historical wing of our building, directly adjacent to the Nutting Room Archives.

The Local Authors collection is maintained in accordance with the Ayer Library’s Collection Development policy. For criteria specific to donations and self-published works, authors can refer to the “Requests, Gifts, & Self-Published Work” portion of the collection development policy.

Authors who wish to donate their book to the Library must fill out a Submission Form to submit alongside a copy of their book.

Donation Guidelines:

The author must reside in Ayer or in the Nashoba Valley region.

  • Books based in Ayer will be considered for inclusion, even if the author is not a local resident.

  • All donations must be in new or like new condition. Donations will be shelved on the Local Authors’ Shelf and not in the traditional fiction or non-fiction collections.

  • The Library will only accept one (1) copy of any title.

  • The Library reserves the right to refuse or remove any title at any time and for any reason.

  • Materials selected for inclusion in the Local Authors collection become property of the Ayer Library and are subject to the same standards and retention schedule as other library materials. After two years, the materials may be removed to make room for newer works. Removed titles will not be returned to contributors.
