LOCAL AUTHORS

The Library’s Local Author collection is designed to support the written works of Ayer residents.

The Ayer Library invites local authors to donate one copy of their recently published work for inclusion in our Local Authors collection. This collection is housed in the historical wing of our building, directly adjacent to the Nutting Room Archives.

The Local Authors collection is maintained in accordance with the Ayer Library’s Collection Development policy. For criteria specific to donations and self-published works, authors can refer to the “Requests, Gifts, & Self-Published Work” portion of the collection development policy.

Authors who wish to donate their book to the Library must fill out a Submission Form to submit alongside a copy of their book.

Donation Guidelines:

The author must reside in Ayer or in the Nashoba Valley region.

  • Books based in Ayer will be considered for inclusion, even if the author is not a local resident.

  • All donations must be in new or like new condition. Donations will be shelved on the Local Authors’ Shelf and not in the traditional fiction or non-fiction collections.

  • The Library will only accept one (1) copy of any title.

  • The Library reserves the right to refuse or remove any title at any time and for any reason.

  • Materials selected for inclusion in the Local Authors collection become property of the Ayer Library and are subject to the same standards and retention schedule as other library materials. After two years, the materials may be removed to make room for newer works. Removed titles will not be returned to contributors.
