Summer Kicks Off June 20
Help us start the summer season at our Summer Kickoff Carnival on Saturday, June 20 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM with Ed the Wizard, a bounce house, fun activities, and a plant and seed swap.
Then stop by the Library all summer long to enjoy events for all ages and Summer Reading programs for kids and adults. This year’s offerings are designed around the 2026 iPage Summer Reading Theme “Plant a Seed, Read!”.
Events highlights include a visit from Bruins mascot Blades on July 21, Animal Adventures on June 25, a tour of Hikes Through History on July 8, Wicked Good Henna on July 14, Professor Bugman on July 18, a Fungi Foray at Pine Meadow on July 18, and a presentation on Revolutionary War Rations on August 19.
There will also be storytimes in Portuguese and Spanish, tween D&D campaigns, teen improv classes, an ice cream social, lawn movie, and back-to-school swap.
This year’s Summer Reading program for kids features raffle prizes from Little Bee Bookshop, Davis Farmland, Launch Trampoline Park, Discovery Museum, Kimball Farm, the Butterfly Place, Wheelock Family Theatre, O’Neil Cinemas, and the USS Constitution Museum. Kids can earn a raffle ticket for every day they read this summer. And if they read 30 days this summer they’ll receive a lawn sign to celebrate their achievement.
Our Summer Reading program for adults will challenge participants to make use of materials, try online services, and attend programs for a chance to win one of three tote bags full of books.
